COMPLIANCE BULLETINS

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) requires an asbestos inspection be performed by a CDPHE Certified Asbestos Building Inspector prior to any RENOVATION or DEMOLITION which may disturb greater than the trigger levels of material identified as a suspect asbestos containing material (ACM) to determine if abatement is required.

The Environmental Protection Agency's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule requires that renovation activities conducted in pre-1978 Housing and Child Occupied Facilities be inspected to determine if lead-based paint is present by a CDPHE certified Lead Inspector.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires exposure assessment air monitoring for tasks that may exceed OSHA established limits for potentially hazardous air contaminates such as; asbestos, lead and silica dust. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states "At least 1.7 million workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in a variety of industries and occupations, including construction, sand blasting, and mining. Silicosis, an irreversible but preventable disease, is the illness most closely associated with occupational exposure to the material, which also is known as silica dust."
